A Day at the Cabin

What a great Saturday! After the obligatory yard work, we got to go up in the mountains and spend some time at Uncle Noley & Aunt Christy's cabin. They had to have some work done on the cabin because of snow damage so we haven't gotten to spend much time up there this year. But since the weather has stayed warm, we got to go up and play and hike and eat and enjoy some good company. Thanks for having us up!

These are some pictures of all the fun we had. I got to push over some trees (dead ones of course). Grandpa and Grandma L. came up too. We all went for a hike above the cabin. We saw a cool sage grouse.

Who needs snow when you can make leaf angels!

No matter where I go, somebody needs my help. Work, work, work, but when you're in the mountains, it's all fun.
Whew - this is how I ended the day. A cookie in one hand, a cheese stick in the other, and a happy mountain dream in the middle.

"Cabin again?"

Sam Alert: Finally, now that Mason is asleep, I get a turn to blog. I absolutely love being outside. Pop me in my carrier, and I can spend many happy hours. I hiked with mom and played with dad. What a great day in the mountains!

If I could talk I would say "Cabin again?" too!

HALLOWEEN FUN

Happy Halloween everyone! What a fun week this has been. Who knew that all you had to do was put on a costume, say "Trick or Treat" and/or say "Happy Halloween" and all kinds of people would give you candy and other fun stuff!

We've had quite the fun week getting ready for the big pumpkin day. First we made sugar cut-out cookies. We made pumpkins and skeletons. I got to do more than just stir this time.

Daddy even helped us frost the cookies. He's very creative! This, of course, is me eating one of my cookies.

And these are some of our Halloween cookies!
Then we got to carve pumpkins. We actually grew a nice sized one this year. Amazing what some sunshine on the garden will do for a pumpkin! Our home-grown pumpkin is the closest one to the front in the picture. The others we got at our visit to the pumpkin patch. See - pretty big, huh! I'm not afraid to get down and dirty with the pumpkin goo.
And daddy does the carving! He's great at making fun faces. I wanted mine to be nice, not scary!Here are our pumpkins all finished and ready to display.And then, finally, the big day arrived. I got to spend the WHOLE day with mommy at her office. Her work opens up their building and lets everyone's kids come through to trick or treat. They have a big party with lots of treats and cool decorations. It was so much fun! I really got the hang of this Halloween thing. By the way, just a hint . . . ask for the treats, not the tricks! Some funny "Cloud" kept wandering by mommy's office squirting water (rain) at us all day.

I was a pirate this year! I thought I looked great - if I do say so myself.

Here is a picture of baby Sam and me from tonight. Baby Sam had a candy corn outfit on today, but then he got to be a Cow tonight when we trick or treated around the neighborhood.Sam Alert: Happy Halloween . . . not a bad haul for my first Halloween! Single Parent Week

It was a good week but kind of lonely. Mommy was in North Carolina for a conference for the whole week. Daddy got to be our single parent for the week. A huge shout-out to our Daddy for being such a great guy!

We did have a super fun diversion for part of the week though - Aunt Jen Jen flew up to spend a few days with us to keep us company. This is a self portrait of me and Aunt Jen. She is super-duper fun! I love when she comes to visit!

This is a picture of me after a few days of hanging out with Aunt Jen. A computer at the ready and a cell phone attached to my ear! She took me to the park, shopping, and out to eat. Our Stay-Cation

We almost always go out of town to Star Valley and Jackson, WY over the UEA break. But there was already so much going on over the next few months we decided to stay home and have a "stay-cation". We sure missed Wyoming, but we had a great weekend around here.

Of course there was some work to be done - but how dull can work be when there are LEAVES to play in?

We won't have nearly as many leaves in our yard this year as usual but there will still be enough to keep us busy!

We went to a Pumpkin Patch near our house one day. There were pumpkins everywhere you looked!

They had all different kinds of pumpkins too - - - bumpy ones . . .

and albino pumpkins . . . .

Big pumpkins and little pumpkins . . . .

And a huge field of corn.

I love Fall - so many fun things to do!

And - I just had to document this momentous occasion . . .

Daddy fixed breakfast for us. Not just any old breakfast - but pancakes in all different shapes and colors. So cool! I didn't know that daddy knew how to use the stove!

This is my dinasour pancake - tasted even better than usual cause daddy made it just for me!

SAM Alert: Howdy - just the usual weekly HI from me to let you all know how I'm doing. Things are good - just hanging with the family and growing every day. Yes - you can see by the picture that I'm a messy guy . . . gotta give the parents something to do!

The Final Days of Fall . . .

At least it feels that way! It has been a cold, snowy weekend but before the snow came we tried to enjoy some outside time. This is the family blowing some final bubbles of the year. Copper LOVES bubbles too. It's fun to watch him run and jump to catch them.

We rescued a very cold Katydid - she was so cold she couldn't move out of the gutter. Did you know that Katydid's tickle?

Then we came inside and did some arts and crafts. I made a sailboat in honor of Columbus Day.

This is daddy outside braving the cold to harvest the last of our tomatoes. We're having fried green tomatoes for dinner tonight!

And this is my mommy out 4-wheeling. She had to go to central Utah on Friday for work and after she visited some teachers, she got to go out on a trailride. She said it was super fun . . . wish I could have gone!
Sam Alert: Hi everyone . . . Sam here. I got to see my first snow today but the parents were simply too lazy to take me out to play in it. It didn't stick around for very long so I'll have to feel snow the next time. Mason says it is really cold and wet. I'll have to put my imagination to work on that one!

Now That's How You Say Hello!

So tonight we were all out in the backyard - dad was painting and mom was doing some yard work and I was playing. We live not too far off from the flight path for airport #2 and often small planes will fly right over our house as they are taking off or landing. Tonight a small plane started circling right over us. He flew over once and mommy and I started to wave at him. He circled around again and flew right over us a second time - we waved again. He circled around one more time and this time the WHOLE AIRPLANE waved right back at us.

The pilot literally rocked his wings up and down over and over again to wave back at us. After that he flew off in to the wild blue yonder. Thanks Mr. Pilot, whoever you were, you sure made our night!!!!

Pajama Days . . .

and Random Pictures

There are some days that are just meant to be "Pajama Days"! And sometimes there are whole weekends when you just stay in your pajamas the entire time. We are having one of those weekends. It is raining here and much colder than it has been. Fall is definately in the air and we decided just to have a nice, relaxing weekend. The boys spent some time watching football . . . . can you say "Touch Down"?

A few weeks ago Samuel posted a picture of himself and said that he had heard there was an identical picture of me. We found it and posted both pictures below. One is really pixalated for some reason . . . but take a look and see if you can figure out which picture is of Mason and which is of Samuel. We are starting to look a little bit different but you can still tell that we are brothers!

And so far at least, we are brothers that kind of like each other!
