Happy Easter Day!

The Easter Bunny visited our house at least twice this year, the mailman brought quite a few Easter presents, and family and friends stopped by to bring us Easter treats. We are definitely loved - thanks to everyone!

We had a great time coloring our Easter eggs. Daddy is a pro egg color-er. The Easter Bunny hid our baskets down in the family room this year - sneaky bunny. We had to look hard. But it was worth it. He left us new trucks for our sandbox for the summer. He also left us lots of sugary treats - ahhhh sugar. Let's just say we had lots of energy to expend this evening.

Mom didn't get a picture of us dressed up in our Easter shirts/ties. Suffice it to say I was cute - actually Sam didn't make it to church today. He had a runny nose and decided to stay home with dad. He was feeling much better by the end of the day - amazing how sugar heals everything!Hope you all had a great Easter day!

This Week Is Brought to you by the Letter "T"

This week was all about the letter "T".

It's a great letter!

First up - "T BALL". We've been waiting and practicing and our first week of T ball finally came. Sam is a Brave and I am a Yankee.

Here's Sam's first official hit. He's a great hitter for a little guy.And here he is making his first official scoring run. Here I am hitting - of course, I'm a great hitter too.
And running the bases.
And scoring. We had one decent afternoon and one really super cold and windy afternoon - burr!

And our second "T" for the week: "Trilobites".

We decided to take a trip to Delta, Utah - who would have thought we could have ended up having so much fun in Delta?!?! We went to a super cool place called U Dig Fossils - it is a trilobite quarry where you get to go in and dig for your own trilobite fossils. Trilobites are 500 million year old hard-shelled marine animals that lived all over the world including in a huge lake that covered most of Utah - Lake Bonneville. We had so much fun! Really! We all want to go back as soon as we can get away again!We found some really good fossils - we know there are more out there waiting for us. We had a yummy picnic lunch and then headed back in to town.
We had dinner and shared a yummy brownie sundae. All we cared about was that there was whipped cream and a lot of it!

Then we spent the night at a hotel and poked around town the next morning before heading back home.

We are definitely headed back - what a great way to spend a day!

Sam Alert: Howdy everyone. I'm loving playing on a T ball team! It's always been hard to be the little brother who has to sit by and watch. Now I get my own turn and I'm loving it! Just Another Week

. . . we're kind of in between big activities, so this was a week of just playing around the house in between school and work. It has been an incredibly wet spring, and that makes it really hard to get out and do too much.

First up - practicing T ball and getting ready for our season to start. Both Sam and I are really excited to play. Check out our hitting practice in the backyard. We're working on catching, running bases, and proper terminology. Sam calls the bat - a "hitter". He he he . . . good thing he can use the "hitter" and whack the ball across the yard.

Mommy made a fun breakfast yesterday - Chickens in a Basket. Um, um good!

Here's Sambo enjoying his breakfast.Sam Alert: Howdy y'all. I'm spending my share of time looking for stuff under kitchen appliances. This time - a refrigerator magnet. Good thing daddy has the right tools - magnet saved! And here I am hanging with my dad. Sam out - have a great week!

Spring Break - Part 1

I'm not really sure why you need a break from spring . . . but regardless, we enjoyed a few days off on a stay-cation. Sam and I each got a day to choose an activity - whatever we wanted to do. It had to be indoors though since our weather has been so cold and wet the last bit.

First up though - here we are enjoying a few minutes outside.

The first activity was my choice - the aquarium. Sam and mom got to go a few weeks back while I was in school. I wanted to see all the fun things they got to see. We started with a family picture - don't worry, it's just a picture. The shark isn't real.Here we are on the frog.

And here are some of the fun animals we got to see.

There was quite the variety of seahorses - cool!And I even petted a sting ray - for a minute. My analogy for the way that the sting ray feels was to compare it to my cereal when it gets soggy in a bowl of milk. Sam still isn't ready to touch one after his last visit to the aquarium - they loved him so much that they scared him.Just hanging out in the bayou.

"Fish are friends . . . not food" - name that movie?(Finding Nemo)

On our way home that afternoon, we stopped at Home Depot. They were sponsoring an Easter coloring contest. Being the artist that I am, I came straight home and colored my picture. We dropped it back off they next day. Do you think I'll win? There's a $25 gift card to the store for the winner. I'm already planning a wood project (with real tools!) for when I win!The next activity was Sam's choice - he picked bowling. That kid loves to bowl.

Here we are - gotta love the ramp that we get to use. It makes our bowling so much more accurate.

There's always time for a little goofing around.

And the winner is: Mason.

(Mom says next time she's using the ramp and bumper guards - so much for taking a bowling class in college.)

And, as is our tradition, we hit the yummy ice cream place after a good game of bowling. We watched the best hail storm while eating our ice cream.The weekend was spent shoveling a little snow, cleaning out the garage, and attending some family parties. We went to our cousin Duke's first birthday party. We didn't get a picture of him, but he weighs more than Sam does.You can't let good snow go to waste - SNOWBALL FIGHT!Sam Alert: Hey everybody - Sam here. We Interrupt Your Spring . . . .

. . . . for a nice big snow storm. This is what we woke up to this morning - about 9 inches of snow in our yard. Crazy - we still had quite a bit on the grass tonight when we went to bed, but the streets and cement are all clear.

In other events of the week - I participated in my first official "Show and Tell" event at school this week. I chose to take one of my favorite books - The Magic Hat - by Mem Fox. My teacher even read it to the whole class. They loved it.Before the snow flew, we spent a wonderful day outside playing. Daddy fixed my bike back up from last fall's "Blow Out" and I hopped right on and rode like a crazy boy.

Brothers . . . yes, we are very competitive!Sam did a lot of bike riding of his own. In fact, he even talked me in to letting him have a turn on my bike. He's pretty darn good on it too. We also got some T ball practice in. Check out my swing!

Sam Alert: Hey everybody! Just checking in for the week. First up - me getting ready to go in the morning . . . shaving (just like daddy - except I use the "safe" end of the razor to keep away the razor burns).

And me doing some reading. I'm getting really good at my letters. So I helped daddy pick out letters in some mail that came for him. He was glad for the help!
