July . . . So Far

We've had a busy month and it is just flying by.  Some how we've gotten behind blogging about it, so buckle up and we'll show you what we've been up to these last few weeks.

On July 1st, we headed down to Thanksgiving Point to see the Utah Symphony play.  It was outdoors, on the cool grass, with lots of beautiful music.

We loved seeing all the different musical instruments and hearing all the different sounds.

Sam decided to lead the orchestra - and he was pretty darn good at it.
There were fireworks afterwards and despite all the mosquito bites, it was a great evening!

Then we headed up to the cabin to spend a few days.
Check out this beautiful full moon that greeted us the first night.

Here I am with the moon in the background.

We always eat really well at the cabin!  Sam and I both love to help cook - here we are making breakfast.  Sam was in charge of the strawberry syrup.

And I made the waffles and eggs.

Then I took a little time to relax and enjoy.
We opened our rock shops and had some customers.

And then we came home to spend part of the 4th of July at home with our traditional neighborhood party.

After the neighborhood breakfast, we put up the water slide and some of our "smaller" neighbors came over to play.

Here's Sunny and her mom getting in to some water action.

We've been scootering around the neighborhood every chance we get.

Sam has really taken to his scooter - hardly any crashes lately.

And then we headed up to Star Valley for a family reunion.
We spent a lot of time having loads of fun with the marshmallow shooters.  Dad made lots of them to take up and we had bags and bags of marshmallows to shoot.  Everyone had a great time.  There were multiple "wars" - - - truly a fun way to spend some lazy afternoons!

At the actual reunion, we played some outdoor games.  Here is Sam playing kickball.  His team was amazing and wiped out the other team.

And here are the boys after we helped to clean up.

We spent a lot of time at our Great Aunt's house playing with cousins.  The next door neighbors had some of the cutest little kittens and they would come over to play every evening.  I definitely decided that I am a cat-person!  I LOVED playing with the kittens - I would have brought one or two of them home with me if I would have had the chance.

Even Sam loved spending some quality kitten time.

Here I am helping to get the bonfire ready.

There's nothing like having a big bonfire in Star Valley!

We roasted hot dogs.

We had smores.  We had fireworks and sparklers.

And we got to hang with some of our most favorite cousins.  Here we are at breakfast one morning with cousin Joslyn.  Aunt Jen Jen was there too, but somehow we didn't get many pictures of her this time.

We drove up to one of the family cemeteries.  Right near the Etna cemetery is our Great Great Grandparent's old home.  We were hoping to be able to walk in to see it up close, but this is the best we could do this time.  It is in such a beautiful spot right up next to the mountains.  It looks like it may fall down any day, but mom says it sure brings back lots and lots of memories. It was these Great Great Grandparents that we had the reunion for.

After checking on some graves, we did some serious playing.  We launched our "helicopters".

And we played some football.  Now that's the way to spend a great afternoon!

And, as usual, Sam and I get to do some driving whenever we're in Star Valley.  Sam gets control of the steering wheel.

And I get to control both the steering wheel and pedals.  Look out world, crazy drivers ahead.

Back at home - Sam and I are both taking real live piano lessons and we're doing amazingly well!
Take a listen.  We each recorded a duet with mom.
Mason - Come See the Parade:

Sam - Yankee Doodle Dandy:

And we've been over at the lake doing some fishing.  These pictures are from last night - we each caught 4 little blue gills.

Check out this neat picture of Mt. Timpanogas in the background.  The lighting was much better in person, but you get the idea.

And check out this sunset!  The geese and ducks were flying in to land on the lake while we fished.  It was a great evening!

A dad and his boys - - - fishing!  Nothing better!

Sam Alert:  Hey everyone, Sam here.  Here I am with one of my smores that I made all by myself during the family reunion weekend.  If you could only see my face up close - covered in chocolate and marshmallow goo!

Along with piano lessons, we've also been working on our keyboarding (typing) skills this summer.  I love to practice typing and I am actually very good at it!

Ok - Sam out.  See you soon!
