A Perfect Day!

The weather here in Northern Utah has been beautiful lately! We've been getting lots of work done and having some play time too. This is a picture of me playing with my wheel pals . . . I LOVE playing cars!

This is me playing on our neighbor's trampoline. I can actually bounce now - as in . . . I can get both my feet off from the tramp at the same time. It is super fun!
On Friday daddy and mommy both had a day off from work and so they took Sam and me out for a PERFECT day. It was warm and the leaves on the trees were changing colors. We started with a drive up Guardsman's Pass over to the Heber Valley. There were lots and lots of bumps in the road and it was a great ride. Then we hopped on the train - the Heber Valley Railroad. There were less than 50 people on the train so we got to spread out and really see the sights. While we were headed out to Vivian Park, a praying mantis jumped in our train car and I got to touch him.
The mountains were so pretty. We had a nice lunch on the train and just relaxed and enjoyed the ride.
The conductor taught me how to say "Choo Choo" and do the train whistle. After the train ride, we went to Wasatch Mountain State Park and played on the playground, fed the ducks and geese, and did a little fishing.
You can see how pretty the fall leaves were. It was in the 80's and hardly a cloud in the sky.

Finally, the perfect end to a perfect day . . . story time with daddy!
Sam Alert: I also quite enjoyed our day out! I love trains too. I refused to take any kind of nap the entire day. Mom had me in my front carrier and I got to see everything. It really was a perfect day!

Hi - It's Sam . . .

I had my 4 month doctor's appointment this week and aside from those nasty shots, it was good. The doctor says that I'm taking after my big brother - a light weight! I came in at the 5th percentile for weight (at least I'm on the charts as compared to Mason) at 12 lbs 12 oz and at the 22nd percentile on height at 24.4 inches.

This is a picture of me hanging out around the house. Mommy says she has the EXACT same picture of Mason in the same chair, in the same outfit. Everyone says we look very similar - I guess that's not such a bad thing.

This is me - I'm learning to hold my own bottle. A little guy's gotta do something to put the pounds on!

This is me with my first try at rice cereal. The doctor said it was "a go" to start on rice. I'm not too sure what to think about this . . . they say you have to try some foods a few times before you start to like it. I guess I'll have to keep trying.

Uncle Noley and Aunt Christy came by the other night and we played lots! They taught Mason how to go down his slide on his tummy - super fun!

We went to Wheeler Farms the other night. There was so much to see! Of course, Mason got to see more of it than I did - darn that stroller. I'll be glad when I can walk.
This is a picture of Mason at the pond at Wheeler Farms. We were there in the evening and the geese were taking off from the pond and heading out for the evening. They kept flying right over us. If you look hard in the picture you can see the geese flying right above Mason's head. Daddy called this "Duck, Duck, Goose".
And finally, this is me - I got my first chance to do laundry with daddy today. This is usually Mason's job, but . . . . you snooze, you loose!

Sam and I have had a great week. Here are some pictures . . .

This is me and my Grandpa and Grandma L. doing some painting. The shed is done now except for the trim. One more day of painting and we should have it all wrapped up!

More ODD jobs . . . as I said last week, a little guy's work is just never done. This is me cleaning up after Copper the dog.

This is me mopping the kitchen. I think all these chores should count as "time served" for when I'm a teenager and don't want to be bothered by chores.This is me and daddy playing. We are reinacting a scene from some movie I've never seen that daddy called "Alien". Wonder what that was about?

This is Samuel, me and mommy - we've been attempting to grow some super big sunflowers this year for daddy's class at his school. I think we did pretty darn good! The honey bees love the sunflowers. Our pumpkins didn't do too well this year, but we've got some yummy tomatoes growing! I think there are even some carrots hiding in the pumpkin patch. The 'matoes are my favorite!

We got up early on Saturday morning (we = me and Sam) and so after the parents finally crawled out of bed (at 6:30 a.m.), we all went for a walk. We even got to stop and play at a playground.
I got a new blankie this weekend. It seems mom had been holding out on me and had a new blankie hidden away for Samuel. When she gave his new blankie to him, I decided I needed a new one too. So mommy and I sat down and "fringed" up this one for me. I still have my most favorite Teddy Bear blankie, but this Jungle blankie is SUPER SOFT! I ran around saying "I love it, I love it, I love it".
Sam Alert: Hi - Samuel here . . . just checking in for the week. I'm finally getting some hair to show up. You can almost see some in this picture. I would have to say that I'm handsome - with or without hair! Not too many people can say that!

A Little Guy's Work is Never Done!

So I know that I blog all the time about helping out around the house. But I'm not sure that my readers REALLY understand the depth and breadth of what I do. And all of these pictures really are just from one week!

This is me helping to paint the fence. Fortunately we just had some new boards to paint rather than the whole fence. But we also had the house trim to finish up. It sure looks nice!

Next weekend . . . painting the shed.

Then I helped daddy with a sprinkler repair.

I LOVE working anywhere there is dirt!
This is me doing some sweeping and cleaning - gotta keep my toys in tip-top shape!

We did get some playing in this week too.

We went to daddy's work party on Friday night. The family's house we were at had a super great yard - just right for a kid! This is me on the tire swing.

The best part of the party was, of course, the swimming pool! Thanks daddy for being brave and being the only adult to go swimming while all of the people you work with watched!

Here is me and Samuel. Mommy promised that she wouldn't put us in matching outfits very often, especially when we get older. But we thought we would humor her for now. Aren't we cute?!?!?!?

Sam Alert: Hi everyone - just thought I'd let you know that not only am I teething like crazy (ask my mommy about all the drool sometime) - but I'm also rolling on to my sides. That will teach the parents not to leave me alone anymore. You just can't take your eyes off me for one second . . . . and that's how I like it!

Happy Labor Day!

We decided to stay around home and "labor" this weekend. But we also found some time to play too.

This is me and daddy painting the trim on the house. Too bad the rain started in (and hasn't let up) - we'll have to finish this job next weekend. This is me helping with the laundry. I do LOVE bubbles!

We've been doing a science experiment - we got this really cool shark at the aquarium a few weeks back and have been watching him grow. Here he is at full size. We traced him before we put him in the water and then afterwards. He grew lots!This is baby Samuel just hanging out - he's still a baby so he doesn't have to help around the house . . . . yet!I got to try a new treat that daddy brought home from school - he called it a "twinkie". Yum!!! Lots of preservatives and sugar . . . all the makings for a super yummy treat!Then we went to game night at Aunt Cathy's house last night. Lots of my cousins were there. It was fun - I've decided it's really great to be able to play with someone else's toys that I haven't ever seen before!We got out some of my old toys for Sam to start playing with. He looks good in my saucer! It was fun to show him all the "bells and whistles".And lastly, mommy snuck this picture of me napping. All this work . . . and play . . . can sure wear a guy out!
