Flowers and Rocks

Wow - what a great week.  We spent some time getting in touch with both our feminine and masculine sides. 

 

First up - we spent an evening at the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival.  This is an annual event for us - we wouldn't miss it!  The flowers were extra beautiful this year - and because of the cold winter that we've had, the flowers hadn't all bloomed yet.  Here are the boys taking time to smell the flowers. 

 

Of course there is the giant hill that we love to run up and down and to roll down.  Isn't it lovely from up top?

And coral and yellows.  Really - you can't even believe how beautiful it is this time of year at the gardens.  Ahhhh . . . . .

 

Then we went down to Delta on Friday night and spent the night.  We got up early on Saturday and headed out to the Geode Beds just south of Dugway.  What a fun day!  We got to dig up geodes from all over the quarry.

 

The help of the excavator was much appreciated!  It made our "digging" very easy.  Here's Sam with a beautiful geode.

We made a new friend at the beds from Ohio.  He and his mom flew in for the day for his birthday.  He took us lizard hunting - and yes, we caught some lizards.  And no, we didn't bring any home as pets.

 

When we got tired of picking up geodes, Sam and I played in the mountains of dirt.  Really - what better way is there to spend a day?  We picnicked in the back of the truck, made some new rock hounding friends, and had a really great day.  Now we just need a rock saw to open up our 4 huge buckets full of geodes.  Some of the ones we cracked open were gray, white, pink, brown, and blue.  So pretty!

 

Sam Alert:  Hey everyone - I had a great week. In addition to the flowers and rocks, it was my Teddy Bear Picnic at school this week.  I had been waiting a very long time for this and the day did not disappoint!  I selected "Lil Grizz" to take to school - he was my very first stuffed animal and I still love him!  He won the award for the oldest bear in the class.

 

Plus - it was a nice warm, spring week.  I got to be outside and what's better than that?

 

Here's proof positive that our kitty cat, Shadow, likes me too.  Here she is sleeping with me one night this week.
