July Happenings

July proved to be a "wet" month.  And that's a good thing!
We started the month with a long weekend up at Uncle Noley's cabin for the 4th of July.
There were water fights and fireworks.

There was fire-building.

And super yummy smores!

We spent some long afternoons in our backyard playing on our water slide.

And then we spent a relaxing and really fun week in Arizona at our Unky and Aunt's house.
Our first day was a cousin-day.  Some of our cousins who live in Arizona came over for some fun in the river with us.
Sam is a pro on the paddle board.

We did some rowing.

And then we tied all the boats, tubes, and boards together for a paddle down river.

The rest of the week we spent on the lake.  Our days consisted of the same, wonderful agenda every day.
1. Sleep in
2. Wake up late and have some breakfast at the house
3. Load up the stuff and make the short drive to the lake
4. Load the boat and apply sunscreen
5. Drive the boat to a great beach
6. Beach the boat and unload the toys
7. PLAY and eat
8. Ride the tube behind the boat
9. Drive the boat to Gasoline Alley for some jumping and playing
10. Dock the boat and clean up
11. Stop for a yummy dinner in town
12. Sleep and repeat!

Our wildlife visitors were a family of donkeys - they were really really fun to hang out with on our beach.

We love spending time at the lake with Carl and Francine!

We spent the last week of the month helping dad set up his new classroom.  Don't even talk about the fact that school will be starting soon . . . . ooops, we just did!

June's Adventures

Happy June - oh, wait - June is long over.  We'd better play some catch up.

June started with the end . . . the end of another year of school.
It was a great year and that was proven at our annual Merit Assembly.  Both Sam and I earned lots of awards this year - awards for academic achievement, physical fitness, and good comportment.
In addition, we both earned scholarships this year.  That is a H U G E deal!  That's what hard work and strong effort gets you!

I had another performance with my Honors Chorale.  I sure enjoyed singing this year!

Mom was off traveling most of the month and while mom's away, the boy's will play.  The few pictures we have to show include:

Another trip to see our local baseball team.  We loves the Bees!

And dad took us fishing a couple of times.  The fish were biting and we had a ton of fun!  Here's Sam.

 And here's me.

Right after mom got back in town, we had our Horse Show.  Here we are earning our ribbons.

Then it was my birthday - the long awaited for day that comes every year!
My day started with a yummy breakfast prepared by dad.  He makes the coolest, most colorful pancakes.

For my family birthday activity, I chose mini golfing.

We played the haunted house course.

Sorry - some of the pictures didn't rotate - please turn your heads to enjoy . . . it's too late at night to correct.

Sam - the bridge.

After a lunch of ice cream . . . .

. . . .we had a yummy birthday dinner at my favorite yummy roll place.

Then it was birthday cake time.  Mom and dad made me this cool football cake this year.

And now I'm 11 years old!

We ended the day running through the sprinklers

Wet bums all around.

And there was the usual measuring on the growth chart.  I'm nearly 5 feet tall.

That's it for June.  More to come in July's update.

Sam Alert:  Hey everyone - this is how I spent lots of my time in June.  We always take part in some summer reading programs.  This is my "reading nook" and I have been loving reading this summer!  Countless trips to the library - we have our own library cards now!

Ok - see you for July's update!  Sam out!
